DESCRIPTION:The Cape Cod Construction Summit (CCCS) is a one-day event offering Construction Supervisor License Continuing Education credits to Builders & Remodelers. Bottomline is that significant residential growth on the Cape over the past 50 years has resulted in nitrogen from on-site septic systems entering our saltwater bodies and degrading their water quality and that nitrogen needs to be removed to restore the water quality for our tourist driven economy and quality of life for residents.\n\n \n\nDavid F. Young\, P.E. is a professional engineer with the firm of CDM Smith Inc. and has more than 40 years of wastewater planning experience. Much of his experience has involved working with several Cape Cod communities from Falmouth to Truro. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Tufts University and a MBA from Babson College and is a former President of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts. Safety pays!\n\n \nPeter Barletta is the "Compliance Assistance Specialist" for the Boston- South OSHA Area Office in Braintree MA\, responsible for providing technical assistance\, outreach\, and training to OSHA stakeholders and the public through alliances\, partnerships\, and other OSHA Cooperative programs.   Prior to his current position\, he was Assistant Area Director for the OSHA Boston- South Office and worked 14 years in the field as an OSHA Compliance Officer conducting construction and general industry inspections and accident investigations. Shannon's talk will start with a brief context of the reason for floodplain management\, which will be followed by a simple explanation of recent changes to how flood insurance is rated by the National Flood Insurance Program. Shannon will spend a little more time discussing how certain building decisions can affect insurance rates\, and then discuss regulations.
