Description
Looking to staff reliable entry-level carpenters without slowing your crews down? Meet Skilled Purpose—a 12-week second-chance carpentry training and job-placement program based at the B.R.I.D.G.E. Center in Barnstable that turns motivated adults into work-ready craftspeople.
Why this matters for employers
- Pre-screened, motivated talent. Candidates complete a multi-stage vetting review, two interviews, CORI checks, and must meet sobriety, stability, and transportation requirements.
- Job-ready skills. Trainees learn OSHA safety principles, Massachusetts building code basics, tool use, and site etiquette—so you spend less time on Day-1 basics.
- They also provide case management and wraparound supports throughout the program — assessing needs like housing, transportation, food insecurity, and legal barriers, and connecting clients with trauma-informed and recovery services.
- Give input, get better hires. Employers help shape the curriculum so grads learn what your jobs actually require.
What you’ll learn in 1 hr
- How placements work (onboarding, supervision, hours, tools, transportation)
- Typical timeline from interview → placement → hire
- How to get first pick of upcoming graduates
Who should attend
Owners, superintendents, HR/ops leads, and anyone filling carpenter or carpenter-helper roles. Anyone interested in learning more about Skilled Purpose.
