Identifying and Avoiding Financial Scams
Objective: Keeping your workplace safe from cyber theft and scams.

Classroom – One (1) CEU in Business Practices
Representatives from the Cape Cod 5 Fraud Prevention department will be discussing:
- External environment: what are we seeing out there right now.
- How they target us: social media, call spoofing, pop‐ups, phishing/smishing.
- Top scams: fake tech support, government/bank imposters, overpayment scams, fake shipping notices bogus charities, bad gift cards.
- Red flags of a scam: unusual payment request (gift cards, bitcoin, etc.), urgency, requesting online credentials, secrecy.
- Resources to stay updated: FTC, AARP, Cape Cod 5 security center.
